New England Food Vision at The Festival
SBN is excited to be partnering for a third year with the Food Solutions New England (FSNE) regional network to present “The New England Village” at this year’s festival. The Village follows on the Massachusetts launch and announcement of FSNE’s “50 by 60” vision at the 2014 Link Net. A New England Food Vision calls for our region to build the capacity to produce at least 50% of clean, fair, just, and accessible food for all people in New England by 2060.
The New England Village will highlight a select few of our New England vendors as a sampling of how easy it is to support and celebrate our region’s interconnection, making a vision of 50 by 60 come to life! The New England Village is a feature of the Link Net demonstrating how states in New England are working together to realize A New England Food Vision: 50 by 60.

Meet vendors from around New England and learn more about our regional food system. Featured vendors and exhibitors in year’s New England Village include:
- Ackerman Maple Farm, Cabot, VT with maple cream, maple candy, maple sugar and maple syrup crafted in their sugar shack from their family-owned 6,400 taps and 76-acre hillside of Vermont’s sugar maples. How sweet it is!!
- African Alliance of Rhode Island, Providence, RI with its own relish made from Garden egg, a type of eggplant grown as a main African crop in their community garden. Also a tangy carrot/apple jam, ingredients sourced from a local farm through Farm Fresh Rhode Island and its Harvest Kitchen. Take home fresh African vegetables and recipes to make your own dish!
- Beth Bakes, Middleton, RI with delicious artisanal crackers in three flavors: Currant Fennel, Pumpkin Seed Cumin and Crispy Classic (plain). A member of Hope & Main, these crackers are made whole grain flours, these crackers are gluten free, vegan, and nut free. For something sweet, try her Chocolate Sea Salt cookies that are gluten and dairy free and super chocolate-y…yum!
- Butterworks Farm, Westfield, VT with samples of their entire line of grass-fed organic cultured dairy products including yogurts and milk. For sale will be single serving whole milk maple and plain yogurts and pint-sized kefirs!
- Chestnut Farms, Hardwick, MA with pasture raised meats and cage free eggs from their family owned farm. The freshest of the fresh!!
- Popzup, Dover, NH with GMO-free, sustainably-farmed popping corn with variety of sea salt popcorn seasonings (like maple, curry, and sriracha) to spice it up. It’s microwavable!
- Real Pickles Cooperative, Greenfield, MA with jars of organic produce turned into dill pickles, along with a variety of “Kraut” including garlic and shallot/herb. and sauces of hot tomatillo and hot red pepper. Recipient of 2017 SBN MA Sustainable Business of the Year: Small Business award, other vegetables such as organic red cabbage, beets, ginger carrots will also be on hand to add more texture for every pallet! Sourced directly from MA farms that include Atlas Farm (S. Deerfield), Red Fire Farm (Granby) and Old Friends Farm (Amherst).
- Old Friends Farm is the pioneer in growing Northeast ginger and turmeric! Their award-winning (2018 National Good Food Award) ginger syrup along with ginger honey, turmeric honey and elderberry turmeric honey will be for the tasting and buying!
